Disclaimer

Last updated 15 October 2026

Little Steps is made to help families prepare for everyday situations. Please read this so you know what it is, and what it isn't.

Not therapy or medical advice

Little Steps is not therapy, a treatment or a medical product, and it isn't a substitute for advice from a doctor, therapist, teacher or other professional who knows your child. If you have concerns about your child's health, development or wellbeing, please speak to a qualified professional.

No promised outcome

Little Steps draws on the principles of social narratives and visual supports, which have a research base for autistic children. Little Steps itself has not been clinically tested. Every child is different, and we can't promise any particular result.

Real situations vary

Our stories show what usually happens, in the order it usually happens. Real appointments, places and people may be different. The stories use words like "may" and "might" for this reason. Please check the details with the place you're visiting, and adapt what you share with your child as you need to.

Using the stories with your child

You know your child best. Use the stories at a pace and in a way that feels right for them, and stop if they become distressed. Read with your child, rather than leaving them to use the kit alone.

Research we refer to

Where we mention research, we describe it as the original authors do and link to the source. Those studies are about social narratives and Social Stories™ in general, not about Little Steps.

Trademarks

Parent voices

The quotes on our website are from parents describing their own experiences of social stories in general. They aren't Little Steps customers and their experiences may not be typical.
